Feeding the Hungry
St. James, Batavia are partners in a Blessing Box which provides nonperishable food items.
Christ Church, Albion and St. John’s, Medina are regular volunteers at the Genesee-Orleans Ministry of Concern.
Trinity, Warsaw operates a pet food pantry that provides necessary items for pet care at no charge.
Clothing the Naked
St. James, Batavia and Holy Apostles, Perry both have thrift stores.
The St. James, Batavia chapter of Episcopal Church Women provide gift certificates for their thrift store to families in the court system through the CASA program, the YWCA, and other churches thanks in part to a grant from the Partnership dioceses.
The Rupprecht Fund at St. James, Batavia is a financial aid program providing funds to purchase clothing, bedding, school supplies, Scout dues, sports equipment/uniforms, band uniforms and instrument rental. The trust is currently limited but the congregation is pursuing a relaxation.
The St. John’s, Medina Linen Closet provides bedding to those in need.
Each church in the Genesee Regional Initiative has a mitten tree.
Welcoming the Stranger
With the aid of donations from all the congregations of the region, St. James, Batavia works to furnish apartments for refugees from Ukraine and evacuees from Afghanistan. Read more.
St. James, Batavia and St. Mark’s, LeRoy provide monthly respite programs for those with dementia.
Christ Church, Albion and St. John’s, Medina host AA meetings.
St. Paul’s, Stafford has a Little Free Library.
St. John’s, Medina helped found Immaculata Home and continues to support the organization.
St. Paul’s, Holley and soon St. Luke’s, Attica host monthly gatherings for conversation about current events, usually using a book or news article, inviting people from the wider community to enter a church building for conversation, not conversion. Read more.
